The King and
the Fool
The Yiddish Theater in Moscow blossomed during the cultural renaissance
that followed the Russian Revolution. Two multi-talented artists,
Solomon Mikhoels and Benjamin Zuskin, "the king and the fool" as they were
affectionately called, were the moving forces behind the theater. Following
World War II, Stalin took aim at one Jewish creative talent after another,
targeting both for execution. Includes excerpts from films and plays in
which each performed. Produced by Beth Hatefutsoth.
