Hill 24 Doesn't Answer (1955)

Edward Mulhare
(James Finnegan) was born in Cork, Ireland in 1923. He began acting in Ireland and then moved to England where in 1951, he appeared in Othello.. After completing his work on Hill 24 Doesn’t Answer, he came to New York where he replaced Rex Harrison from as Henry Higgins on Broadway in My Fair Lady. He appeared in several Broadway productions and was also known for his starring television roles on The Ghost and Mrs. Muir (1968-1970) and Knight Rider (1982-1986). He died in Los Angeles in 1997.

Haya Hararit (Miriam Mizrahi) was born in Haifa, Israel in 1931 and got her first break winning a beauty queen pageant in Israel. She won the Hommage Award at the Cannes Film Festival for her work in Hill 24 Doesn’t Answer. After that, she played in “The Doll that Took the Town (1957) with Virna Lisi and went on to co-star with Charlton Heston as Esther in Ben-Hur (1959). She subsequently acted in a variety of other films. In 1967, she co-wrote the screenplay for Our Mother’s House, which starred Dirk Bogarde.

Michael Shilo, aka Yitzhak Michael Shillo (Yehuda Berger) was born in Poland in 1920. He came to Israel in 1934 and subsequently studied acting in England and ballet and pantomime (with Marcel Marceau) in France. After Hill 24 Doesn’t Answer, he appeared  in 36 films. His television work included the mini-series Masada (1981) and Kennedy (1983). Mr. Shilo also acted in the Habima, the Cameri Theater and various theaters across Europe and the United States. He was also a painter. He died in 2007.

Michael Wager (Allan Goodman) was born Emanuel Weisgal in New York in 1925. He began his Broadway career in A Streetcar Named Desire in 1949, followed by numerous Broadway and television successes. He had film roles in such films as Exodus (1960) and King of Kings (1961) and worked closely with Leonard Bernstein on radio, television and the stage. He was the voice of "Great Performances" for many years on PBS. His father, Meyer Weisgal, was president of Israel's Weizmann Institute of Science.

Arie Lavi, aka Arik Lavie (Amiram), was born in Leipzig, Germany in 1927 and immigrated to Israel at the age of eight. After Hill 24 Doesn’t Answer, he focused on a music career and quickly became one of Israel’s best-loved balladeers. His recording of “HaSela HaAdom” (The Red Rock) which romanticized the ancient Nabatean city of Petra, became legendary; another popular recording of his was “Shir Stav.” Lavie starred on Broadway, the Israeli stage, and in numerous Israeli films. He died in Tel Aviv in 2004.

Margalit Oved (Esther Hadassi) was born in the British Protectorate of Aden in 1937 and immigrated to Israel in 1949. Almost immediately, she began dancing with the Inbal Dance Company and quickly became one of its leading performers. After Hill 24 Doesn’t Answer, she focused her attention on dance, touring with Inbal, including a 1957 world tour. She taught Yemenite dance at UCLA and in 1994, she returned to Inbal as its director. She has created over forty-five choreographies and Israeli folkdances.
