The
Jews of Djerba
Djerba, an island off the southeast coast of Tunisia, is home for a
small and little known Jewish community. According to their tradition,
Djerban Jews see their community as a living remnant of the Babylonian
Jewish community created over 2500 years ago. Filmmakers Alain Cohen and Georges Nizan
explore traditions of the community and the celebrated "Ghriba," stones
said to have been salvaged from the Temple.
"A colorful portrait
of a Jewish community unknown to most of us. This film offers a unique
opportunity to learn about a pocket of Jewish life that has been preserved from
the past."-Medium
