The
Illegals
Author Meyer Levin joined the Haganah's European underground after World
War II, and recorded on film the fantastic story of the "Aliyah Bet"- the
clandestine movement of Holocaust survivors to Palestine. Levin, movie
camera in hand, did not miss a moment. He kept shooting film, even as British
soldiers boarded the "illegal" Haganah ship that was to carry them to the
shores of the Land of Israel. The end result was this film. Made available
through the Steven Spielberg Jewish Film Archive in Jerusalem.

The
Unafraid
In 1977, Meyer Levin returned to Israel to track the lives of those
people he recorded thirty years earlier in The Illegals. What became of
those who fled Europe; trekked across snow covered peaks; boarded overcrowded
ships; risked their lives? Delicately combining footage from his earlier
film, he effectively documents this gripping episode.
